Softball

Softball is a team sport, that consists of 10 players per team. There are key differences between Baseball and Softball, some of the reasons being the softball diamond is smaller than a baseball diamond, the ball used in softball is bigger, a faster paced game and you can only pitch underarm in softball.

Softball is classed as a summer sport, so season and one day tournaments (ODT) are held in terms 1 and 4. Senior’s season and ODT are held during term 1 and Junior’s season and ODT are held during term 4. Signups are usually held during term 1 and 4 respectively, so in these terms please keep an eye on the sports office and daily notices.

Howick College does not have a team that we enter in the weekly season however we consistently enter in the One Day Tournament run by College Sport Auckland. When we took the Junior Boys team at the end of 2022, we came away with the bronze medal after only 1 loss.
