Zone Information
In-Zone Eligibility
Students who, on the first day of attendance, are living permanently within the Howick College zone boundaries and who meet the criteria for a state-funded education, are entitled to attend Howick College.
The student’s primary caregiver must be their natural parent or legal guardian. If the student is living with relatives who are not the natural parent, then primary caregiver must provide evidence of legal guardianship. With regards to complex custody arrangements, the Howick College Board reserves the right to consider guardianship verification on a case by case basis.

All in-zone applications must provide the following evidence of living permanently within the Howick College school zone:

In-zone families who own their home must provide photocopies of (1) a sale and purchase agreement or Auckland Council rates document; AND (2) a recent complete electricity invoice which shows the supply address;​

In-zone families who are renting must provide photocopies of (1) a fixed term rental agreement of a council approved rateable dwelling, that is valid during the period of the first day the student commences school; AND (2) a recent electricity invoice or verification from an electrical supplier; AND (3) a bond lodgment receipt from Tenancy Services, as verification of living in-zone;​

If families are unable to verify their in-zone eligibility at the time of enrolment, the School may consider a ‘Statutory Declaration’ whereby families verify that all information provided in the Enrolment Application Form are true and correct. This declaration is made under the conditions of the Oaths and Declarations Act 1957, AND must be accompanied by a utility account such as, fixed phone landline and/or internet account; or a photocopy of the Post Office mail re-direction receipt, along with a photocopy of the final reading of electricity account of previous address. Photocopies of documents must show the exact name of the family and the address.

Howick College School Zone Boundaries

Starting at the roundabout of Bradbury/Botany/Union Roads travel north along Botany Road (256/199 and below excluded) and turn right on to Ridge Road (excluded);

Continue along Ridge Road and Picton Street (75 - 127 / 78 - 128 included) turning north-east on to Uxbridge Road;

At Beach Road (excluded), follow the coastline east, past Kawakawa Bay to Waiti Bay.

From Waiti Bay follow Kawakawa Bay Coast Road west, at the intersection with Kawakawa-Orere Road (Up to the begining of the 100kph zone, approximately 1.5km from the intersection with Clevedon-Kawakawa Road included) and Clevedon-Kawakawa Bay Road.

Follow the Clevedon-Kawakawa Road to Clevedon township. (Ness Valley Road included and Moumoukai Hill Road: up to the end of the public road where it intersects with McKenzie Road included)

From Clevedon - Kawakawa Road, Follow the Papakura Clevedon Road south, (Up to but not including the intersection with Clevedon-Takaanini Road included).

From the Papakura-Clevedon Road turn into West Road and follow this to intersect with Brooky Road (included) and follow this north.

From Brookby Road, turn into Whitford Park Road, and follow this to the roundabout in Whitford Township. The side road, Sandstone Road (Excluded).

Travel west into Whitford Road, (Griggs Road included, Caldwells Road excluded) cross the Mangemangeroa Bridge (Point View Drive Excluded) and turn south west on to Chapel Road (Ti Rakau Drive to Whitford Road included, Santa Ana Drive and Kilkenny Drive excluded)

Travel west along Ti Rakau Drive (excluded) then north along Botany Road back to the starting point.

All residential addresses on included sides of boundary roads and all no exit roads off included sides of boundary roads are included int eh zone unless otherwise stated.

Special Programmes
This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a Special Programme approved by the Secretary.

The family will be notified once the ballot is drawn;​

Applicants will have 14 days to confirm their place;​

If applicants deny their place or do not reply to the school to confirm their place within 14 days, applicants will be removed from the acceptance list and the space will be offered to the next applicant on the ballot.​​

Applicants will be given their number in the ballot;​

Applicant who is given a place at a later stage will have 3 working days from the date of notification to confirm their acceptance before their place is offered to the next applicant on the list.​

The exact number of Out-of-Zone placements will depend on the number of applications received from students living within the Howick College home zone.

The Amendment Act 2010 states that:

Priority 2 must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school
-
Priority 3 must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a former student of the school
-
Priority 4 must be given to any applicant who is the child of a former student of the school
-
Priority 5 must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school
-
Priority 6 must be given to all other applicants

If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Schedule 20 section 4 of the Education Training Act 2020 (formerly Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989). Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the are aserved by the school.

Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.

Out-of-Zone Applications & Ballot Process
Out-of-Zone families must complete ALL Online Enrolment requirements and submit all necessary supporting documents before the closing date in order to go into the ballot. No Out-of-Zone applications will be accepted after the closing date.

The ballot will be drawn one week after the out-of-zone application closing date and all families will be notified within 24 hours of ballot whether they have been accepted following the outcome of the ballot.
