Winter
The netball programme at Howick College has established itself as one of the premier secondary school netball programmes in New Zealand, with a proud history of developing talented players and competing at the highest levels of the game.
Our Achievements
Our teams have consistently performed at regional and national level, with highlights including:
Back-to-back New Zealand Secondary Schools (NZSS) National Championship titles
Completion of a rare "triple crown" - winning the Auckland Secondary Schools, Upper North Island Secondary Schools (UNISS), and NZSS National Championships in a single season
Multiple alumni who have gone on to earn Silver Ferns caps and professional contracts
Students selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Netball Team, including representatives named to leadership positions within that squad
Recognition as one of New Zealand's leading school netball programmes
Netball Academy Programme
Howick College offers a Netball Academy Programme for Year 9 and Year 10 students. This half-year, subject-based course is designed for students identified as having a talent for the sport and provides a structured environment to develop both their game and their understanding of it.
The programme covers practical and theory sessions across a range of areas including rules, nutrition, fitness, skill acquisition and development, and game analysis. Selection into the Academy is by application and trial.
