Basketball

Howick College has seen a significant increase in the number of students participate in basketball, leading to the development of a new and improved basketball programme which now caters for both boys and girls at all levels and age groups. We offer fitness and performance training camps during term breaks which have produced some very pleasing results for our teams.

Our Senior Boys are in the Top 8 of the BBNZ Northern Cup Secondary Schools Basketball Tournament as well as in the Top 5 of the Senior Boys Open Division in Central Eastern ABSL, whereas our Junior Boys are in the Top 10 of the A Grade 3 on 3 BBNZ National Tournament and in the Top 5 of the A Grade Zone 1 Secondary School Junior Premiership Basketball Tournament, plus the Top 5 of the Junior Boys Division 1 in Central Eastern ABSL.

We have a number of students who make local and sometimes even national rep teams, the experience they bring to this sport is valuable. We also have a number of commited teachers and parents, and with their support the sport continues to grow at an extremly fast paced.
