Rugby (Boys & Girls)

Rugby is New Zealand's national sport and a full-contact team sport that demands speed, skill, and teamwork. Howick College has a thriving and growing rugby programme catering for both boys and girls across a range of grades and age groups.

The girls rugby programme has a strong tradition of excellence, with teams consistently competing and achieving at regional and national levels, including success at national sevens championships and representation in prestigious international tournaments. The programme continues to attract and develop talented female athletes across all grades.

The boys programme is equally ambitious, with the 1st XV competing at a high level in Auckland competition and continuing to develop depth across the junior and feeder grades. Building a strong pathway from junior to senior level remains a key focus for the programme going forward.

Howick College also enjoys a close relationship with a number of Japanese high schools, welcoming exchange students who often contribute to and enrich the rugby programme during their time at the college.

A Junior Rugby Academy is available for Year 9 & 10 students.
