Teaching Staff 

Teacher of ESOL - Permanent
Start - Term 1, 2023.
We are looking to appoint a passionate teacher of English for speakers of other languages (ESOL). Howick College has a long tradition of improving student outcomes through language development and welcomes students from around the world. If you have proven expertise in both junior and senior ESOL teaching, enjoy working collaboratively and love to produce inspirational lessons, then being part of our school community is for you. Experience and confidence in teaching the University Entrance Literacy standards would be advantageous in this role. Please state other teaching subjects.

Careers Advisor
Start - Term 1, 2023.

We are seeking a forward-thinking careers advisor to join our welcoming, student-centred Careers team. In this role, you will support students to develop their career management competencies in one-to-one interviews and in career education classes. You will be part of a team that supports teachers to integrate careers information. The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills and be highly collaborative.

Applicants will be fully registered teachers with a strong background in the secondary education sector. The role may include a teaching component that will ideally include vocational education courses that complement our Gateway programme. Support Staff 

Homestay Coordinator/Groups Administrator - Part-Time (20 hours/week during term time)
Start - Term 1, 2023

We are seeking a Homestay Coordinator / Groups Administrator to join our International Students Department. This important role will include: ensuring a safe physical and emotional environment is provided for all international students, coordinating all homestay placements, providing administration assistance for short term group students, being the 24 hour emergency contact during some weeks of the term.

 

This position would suit someone who is a team player with a positive approach, a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.

Teacher Aides 
Start - Term 1,  2023

We are looking for two Teacher Aides to join our Learner Support Team. You will be working in mainstream classes with a focus on assisting a small number of students with learning and/or social needs. Occasionally you may work one on one to provide more intensive support.


Our ideal candidate will:
●  exhibit a positive, patient and sensitive outlook and a willingness to be flexible to support the
learning of students with specific needs.
●  relate well to young people and be highly motivated to establish relationships with students so
that they accept and seek your help.
The hours are from 8.50am to 3.20 pm, Monday to Friday during term time only. Positions
commence by negotiation early in Term 1.
