School Organisation Departments Business and Management Business and Management
The Business and Management Department offers a range of subjects, which relate to the world of business and enterprise. Our underlying philosophy is learning through practical application. The content of our courses is based on real world situations. There are a variety of subjects offered in Business and Management. In the senior school we offer, accounting, economics, legal-studies, management and marketing. In the junior school we offer economics in year 9 (covering an entrepreneurship programme) and 10 (covering a financial literacy programme). While accounting requires students to progress through all three senior years, students may start studying economics at any senior year level, with HOD approval. Business studies subjects can be taken at year 12 or year 13. The department offers several extra-curricular activities which allow students to apply their business and economic knowledge. These include the Stock Market Challenge, the Monetary Policy Challenge, University of Auckland economics competition and the NZCETA economics and accounting competition. Career Pathways:Choosing Business and Management subjects will put you on a path to a number of careers particularly in the fields of business management, financial management, self-employment, insurance and human resources.
