Howick College Library Mission Statement

• Through their learning in the Howick College Library and Information Centre students will develop their information literacy • Through their learning in the Howick College Library and Information Centre students will continue to develop their print literacy and their interest in and enthusiasm for reading for pleasure

 

The New Zealand Curriculum Framework (Ministry of Education, 1993) acknowledges that students' learning opportunities are affected by a range of factors including 'access to resources' and that teaching should be 'supported by resources of the highest possible quality' The school library can affect students' achievement in many ways. It is a fundamental resource for students, and it also gives them access to other learning resources, tools and opportunities. Library Services and Facilities

The library offers a binding service. Assignments may be Unibound for between $2.00 and $2.50, depending on their thickness. We can also laminate up to A3 size posters and charts. A4 size costs $1.50 and A3 size costs $2.00

You may print from the Library and Multi-Media room computers to a black and white laser printer. The cost is 10 cents per page.

You may photocopy in the school library. We have two copiers available for student use, one black and white, the other black and white and colour. To operate the photocopiers, students must purchase a photocopy card from the Library staff. These cost $5.00. Black and white copies cost 8 cents a page, colour copies cost $1.50 or $2.00, depending on size.
