Ice Hockey
Congratulations to Jordan Challis (BEJT) and the New Zealand U20 Team.
The team won the Gold medal at the World championships held in Belgrade, Serbia during the holidays.
The team won major games against Australia 7-2 and host’s Serbia 5 – 4.
Jordan was named Player of the Match for the Aussie game.
Swimming
Congratulations to Emma Lowther (MCKT) who has just been selected to represent New Zealand in the Trans Tasman
swimming team. The girls will race against two Australian teams in July.
A huge week of swimming for Emma Lowther recently.
Emma competed at NZ Nationals in Christchurch ’s QEII Pool complex.
Her results in the U15 divisions;

4th 50m Butterfly
7th 200m Freestyle

Baseball
Jonathan Fellet (BAWE) is our latest New Zealand representative.
Jonathan played 1 st Base and also pitched.
Jonathan has just returned from Australia, Gold Coast, where he represented NZ in the U18 Men’s team.
Games were played against Australian State teams. Results were: played 5, won 2, lost 3
Cross Country
Congratulations to Mrs Grimmer and the New Zealand Girls Cross Country team.
The team was selected by Mrs Grimmer to attend the World Championships in the Czech Republic during the holidays. The
girls won the World title and also the individual girl’s race.
Thank you and congratulations to all those that participated in the school cross country.
Thanks must go to the Deans, PE dept. the Student Sports Council and Mrs Grimmer for their support on the day
In-line Hockey
A great result for Helen Murray (IRPI) and the New Zealand U18 Women’s team who recently competed in the AAU Junior Olympics competition in Philadelphia, USA. The women’s team are now the World Champions after defeating Australia in the final 3 – 0.
They also collected a Silver medal from the 2 nd Division Open Women’s and a Bronze from the State competition.
Helen also finished the tournament with 4 goals.
Trampoline
Emma McLaughlin (BAWE) collected 3 Individual Bronze medals at the recent Oceania Games in Bendigo, Australia as part of the New Zealand team.
The New Zealand team has done exceptionally well collecting a total of 21 medals, 8 of which have been Gold.
Touch
Congratulations to Lacey Beadle (BASH) and her U19 Counties Manukau Touch team. The girls won their division and are now the New Zealand U19 champions.
All Howick College Touch teams remain unbeaten at this stage, well-done Mr Wright (Coach)
Athletics
Congratulations to Peter Callagher (BAJH) on his selection in the New Zealand Commonwealth Youth Games Team. The team will be made up of 18 Men and 22 Women from athletic clubs throughout New Zealand.
The team will compete in Pune, India from 12 – 18 October of this year.
Peter will contest the 110m Hurdles.
Underwater Hockey
Congratulations to our Junior Open Team who won the Gold medal at the Regional Tournament held last weekend.
Cory Marshall and Callum Searle (BENA) have coached this team.
The team is Jack Ryan ( INCR Captain), Jonny Robinson (BENA), Douglas Grant (MILN), Joseph Paler (IRLI), Hamish Arthur (MCLA), Nathaniel Pemberton (BAON), Robbie Brown (MILN), Royce Steel (BAWY) and Willis Fowler (BAJH).
The boys result means that they have qualified for Nationals in September.
The Senior Girls team finished 4 th but still qualified for the National Tournament in September also.
The following players were named in the U18 New Zealand trials squad.

Soccer
Brittany Dudley-Smith has just been selected to attend the New Zealand U15 women’s training camp in April.
The team will then play games during the year in New Zealand
Sailing
Congratulations to Sarah Tootill (IRGR) who has just competed at the Laser Radial Women’s World Champs at Takapuna. There were close to 16 countries competing for this title over 6 days. Sarah came 71 st out of 116 competitors. Sarah also competed in the Youth U17 Girl’s World Champs where she finished 14 th out of 38 starters.
