Howick College Student Sports Council
The Student Sports Council promotes and develops sport in the school and local community. It consists of representatives from each House who have a passion for sport and a desire to lift the profile of sport at Howick College.
Each member is responsible for several of the 40+ Codes and they have roles involving website maintenance, fundraising, inter-house competitions, and the overall promotion of sport through monthly newsletters. The Council also plays an integral part in the organisation and running of the end of year Sports Awards Dinner that is a highlight of the sporting calendar. All of the council members are keen sportspeople themselves and are excited about the progress being made and the possibility for future development of Howick College Sport.
Towards the end of each year, the Director of Sport, selects this group of enthusiastic students. Each applicant completes a questionnaire that includes such questions as:
• Why do you want to be on the Student Sports Council?
• What contributions could you make to help develop and promote Howick College Sport?
• What special skills do you have to bring to the group?
