A key ingredient for the academic success of a student is the promotion of strong connections between school and home. To further this goal, Howick College has two ways for parents to access their child's learning and school information - the 'Parent Portal' and 'Schoology'.
- the Parent Portal and Schoology Parent are not the same system and use different login methods.
- all absences must still be reported via email: email@example.com.
The Parent Portal provides administrative information on your child's caregiver details, attendance, NZQA results, reports and finances.
** please note: the Parent Portal is currently undergoing an up-grade... it will be back up and running soon. Thank you for your patience.
Schoology is Howick College’s Learning Management System. It is used to provide electronic learning materials to students, allow them to communicate with their teachers and to submit electronic assignments. It is a very powerful tool and is used extensively within Howick College.
Many teachers have also uploaded course objectives and assessment dates into Schoology. Each course your student is enrolled in has a separate area, along with a range of special interest groups including groups for their house, their tutor and a whole school group for Maths, Library and other resources.
Schoology also allows access for parents their child’s classes and groups. Instructions and Access codes have been sent to all parents of the school. If you have not received these please contact the school so that we can resend them.
We encourage all our parents to create their parent access and get their child to show them what they are doing on Schoology. We also encourage our students to download the Schoology App for Android or iOS. The App is free and lets the student receive pop-ups of important information such as assignment dates.
Parents can login to Schoology here. Instructions on how to set up Schoology for the first time and also how to use Schoology are available in the PDFs below.
