BYOD at Howick College

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) is being used in many schools throughout New Zealand and was implemented at Howick College in February 2013.  We are moving progressively to an environment where students will need to have a device with specified capabilities.

What is BYOD at Howick College?
Bring Your Own Device is where a student may bring a netbook or other device to school for use in their learning. BYOD allows students and teachers to use technology that students are familiar with to access information available from resources outside the school environment.

During class time, teachers will let students know when they are permitted to use their devices for certain projects. At all other times, students are to have their devices turned off.

Further information and guidlelines are available in the following PDF. This information is also relevant to students in the Digital Learning classes.

Installing Office 365

The following PDF provides instructions for downloading and installing Office 365 for Windows. This needs to be done at home as it will take a little time.
